Asus is a renowned brand in gaming laptops. It’s on par with Alienware and other giants in the industry. Despite its top-of-the-line specs, the ROG Strix Scar 16 is a portable device. The 17-inch display is between 144Hz and 244Hz, and has the resolution of 1080p. This is high enough to give you a full-on experience. Its battery lasts for 6-8 hours of continuous use and its fans do not get too loud, even under load.
The Scar 16 has a design that’s a bit gamer-like however, it’s not flashy. Its transparent lid is its most distinctive feature. It catches the light and shines through 8,279 tiny openings to create the effect of a rainbow. The hinge on the display of the laptop lifts the back of the chassis, which improves airflow and makes the keyboard slope towards you. Asus calls it its ErgoLift hinge.

It comes with a variety of ports – USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C, HDMI 2.0b, 3.5mm combo jack, and Gigabit Ethernet — and a dedicated SD card slot. The speakers are loud, but can distort or become shrill at high volumes. It is recommended to pair them with headphones. The only drawback is small unwanted programs you’ll want to remove including McAfee Personal Security and the Dolby App.
